Silence

So I feel like I haven't shared anything great for a long time. Fact is, I haven't. We've been busy with little things here and there that seem to add up to all our time being swamped.

One of those little things was a swimming party with friends. Sarah bought the girls some swimming goggles, and they were so cute wearing them all around the house and making fun of having googely eyes. I took a few pictures, slipped the phone in my pocket and out the door we went to the party. When we got there, Caitin ran and jumped right in the pool. Jamie has developed the habit of doing EVERYTHING Caitin does, so I was frantically getting her and I ready to get in the pool too - safely. We made it in, and were playing around when I thought "I need a picture of these cute girls". So I reached down to my pocket (now 2 feet under water) and pulled out a dead phone. Sorry. No pictures of googely eyes for anyone!

We'll be replacing that phone tomorrow, so if you haven't heard from us recently and you are considered by the phone company to be long distance, this COULD be our excuse.

Insulate

We celebrated our independence this weekend by working on our home. Yehaw! We drilled a few holes in the walls...

...and found this: Yeah, that's the foundation you see down there. I don't think the R-value of cobwebs is very high.

This bimetal holesaw cost $15 and cut 15 holes before it looked like this. Note the lack of teeth.

Then I got this saw that was made for cutting through sheetrock or tile or whatever. Much faster, and much more cost-effective!

This is the bulkiest load my truck has yet endured. I had built the rack earlier this week to haul canoes, and it worked perfect for containing the insulation and blower from Home Depot.

Here's Sarah's work station.

She was very good at her job, keeping things rolling for me. She kept the hose fed and controlled the flow. We used walkie-talkies to communicate. I don't know how we would have done it without them!

Here's Caitin's room during the work. We did her room first, which displaced her for sleeping Friday night.

Note the dust particles the camera picked up. We wore dust masks the whole time.

It's a good thing Sarah insisted on covering the contents of each room. There was a big mess when we were done.

Thank goodness for movies and babysitters. The girls tolerated the project pretty well, and now Caitin wants to sleep on the air matress every night.

Now we're in the process of plugging and repairing all the holes. 115 of them. Gonna be busy this week!
