Our little Mater is a growler. Deep down in her throat she lets loose with a noise that definately does not fit the definition of "cute". It would be perfect on a halloween night hidden in some bushes near a quiet front door. Have a listen.
I've been encouraged by my better half to let you all know why we call her Mater. Her middle name is Mae. I have a ridiculous habit of playing the name game. Caitin will forever be Caitinator, and a natural following was to call our younger Mater. The two names play well together when singing silly songs about our two little girls. Well, it's stuck, and when people ask who Mater is, we usually reference the movie "Cars" and the character Tow-Mater. It's just simpler to explain. Also, very fitting is that Mater has a nice round head that occasionally becomes red when she is upset at us laying her down to sleep. She's our Mater-Mae.

Sound Check
Take 4...While you don't see all the attempts I'm making to post an audio clip, the final number will reveal my efforts.
ASHES
So this isn't exactly what I want...was hoping to have a little graphical interface to use, but that wasn't the most user-friendly. Go ahead and have a listen by clicking on the song title above (ashes).

Ahhh...Spring!
Finally, spring is here! Sunny 70's this weekend. Gardening, cycling, sand box, more gardening, were all followed up with bathing. Caitin has lately been willing to sing her favorite songs...the three or four of them she knows. She'll sing one after the other the best she knows how. Ring Around the Rosie, Twinkle Twinkle, Whinnie the Pooh, and Thomas the Tank Engine have been known to spontaneously erupt from our daughter. Unfortunately, I've not been able to figure out placing an audio clip on the blog, so that'll have to wait.
In the mean time, check out these pics of our girls this morning. Caitin is ever enthralled by her horse, Thunder. Anyone that has been to our home knows that Thunder lives up to his name when he is being ridden by Caitin. Mater is growing and is close to being able to sit up on her own. She's grabbing at things and she'll hold and suck on anything small enough or soft enough to fit her hand.

You may notice that although spring is here, these pictures are all inside...spring was a teaser. I started this post on Sunday, and am only finishing it today. It's been snowing and cold since Sunday.

Letters
Look at this glorious spring weather! We've consequently taken opportunity to complete some of our indoor projects.
Several weeks ago, Sarah brought home some wood letters from the craft store to spell out Caitin's name on her wall. "Here, you can be in charge of sanding these." Well, I pieced away at them now and again, littering the dining room table with sawdust and sandpaper scraps each time I did. Finally I've finished them. I wondered at times if Sarah realized how much sanding those little intricate letters actually would take. Oh well, they turned out pretty good, I thought. She was thinking paint, though, and I convinced her that to meet the decore of Caitin's room they should be stained the same color as her toy shelf. Anyway here's a picture of the finished product. Each letter is about 6 inches tall.
